# U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen plans to propose a comprehensive reform of the regulatory agencies established after the financial crisis

According to reports, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is proposing significant changes to the government's approach to financial regulation and stability.

In a letter set to be released on Thursday, Bessent will suggest altering the working guidelines of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC).

The agency's previous focus was on strengthening oversight and control over regulated entities, while the new guidelines will reverse this approach, promoting looser regulation and a freer path
