# Understanding the Market | DONGFANG ELEC rises over 7% to secure core equipment order for 50 MW combined cycle power generation project in Zhambyl Region, Kazakhstan

According to Zhitong Finance APP, Dongfang Electric (01072) has risen over 7%, currently up 7.39% at HKD 23.54, with a trading volume of HKD 171 million.

In terms of news, according to reports, Dongfang Electric has successfully "gone abroad" with its self-developed F-class heavy-duty gas turbine G50, securing a core equipment order for a 50-megawatt combined cycle power generation project in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region. This marks the first time that China's heavy-duty gas turbines have achieved complete machine exports, officially entering the international mainstream energy equipment market. Industry analysts point out that with the replacement cycle of old gas turbines in Europe and the United States, the acceleration of natural gas power generation layout in Middle Eastern and Central Asian countries, and the urgent demand for flexible peak-shaving power sources in emerging markets, the global market for medium and heavy-duty gas turbines is entering a new growth phase.

Tianfeng Securities stated that the company's F-class 50-megawatt heavy-duty gas turbine (code G50) officially entered commercial operation in 2023, with the first export to Central Asia in 2025, providing three self-developed 50-megawatt heavy-duty gas turbines for the 50-megawatt combined cycle power generation project in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region. The company is currently developing a 200MW-class G200 gas turbine; a 15MW-class G15 gas turbine in the low power range; and the first domestically produced high-power split-shaft 80MW-class G80 gas turbine in the medium power range. The firm expects that against the backdrop of a supply-demand gap in overseas gas turbines for 26-35 years, the self-developed G50 and other power level gas turbine products are expected to effectively provide incremental supply and accelerate the export of gas turbines
