# Google Translate's latest beta version offers instant voice translation functionality for any headphones

Alphabet (GOOG.US) has launched the latest update for Google Translate, expanding the real-time voice translation feature, originally limited to Pixel Buds, to any headphones and supporting over 70 languages. This feature is initially released in beta form and requires only a supported Android phone with the translation app installed. In comparison, Apple's (AAPL.US) similar feature requires AirPods to use.

Real-time voice-to-voice translation is being rolled out today on the Android platform in the United States, Mexico, and India, with plans to launch on the iOS translation app next year.

This is one of several new features soon to be introduced in Google Translate, which also includes improved text translation. Through Gemini, Google Translate can now provide more accurate translations for phrases such as idioms and slang. Additionally, the update includes an expansion of the "Practice" feature, extending it to 20 new countries and adding more supported languages
