# The UK government is considering implementing a youth "social media ban" similar to Australia's

According to multiple British media reports on December 22, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is considering implementing a social media ban for those under 16, following Australia's example. Starmer had previously stated that he personally opposed a social media ban targeting teenagers, believing that the key issue is "how to control the content children see." According to the UK's Daily Mail, Starmer's earlier statement seemed to rule out the possibility of implementing a social media ban.
