# Zelensky will meet with Trump to discuss differences in the peace agreement draft

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he plans to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday to seek to bridge the remaining differences on a draft agreement aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Zelensky has been pushing for a summit with Trump to reconcile the differences that still exist regarding the 20-point draft agreement and other aspects of the peace agreement being discussed between the U.S. and Ukraine. A White House official confirmed that Trump plans to meet with Zelensky on Sunday.

Negotiators from Ukraine and the U.S. have spent weeks adjusting the conflict-ending plan, which was drafted by Trump's envoys, Witkoff and Kushner, and incorporated feedback from Russian envoy Dmitriev.

**The focus of the debate is on the future of approximately 20% of the Donetsk region, which is controlled by Ukraine but which Russia wants to hand over; the status of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant currently under Russian occupation; and the exact details of the security guarantees Washington will provide to Ukraine.**

Zelensky said in an audio message shared with reporters via WhatsApp on Friday, "The 20-point plan we have been working on is 90% complete. Our task is to ensure everything is 100% ready." He also stated, "It's not easy, and no one said it would be 100% resolved immediately, but in any case, we must bring the desired outcome closer with each such meeting and each such conversation."

It remains unclear whether Russia will accept the agreement negotiated by Kyiv and Washington. A key goal for Ukraine and its European allies is to persuade Trump that it is Russian President Vladimir Putin, not Zelensky, who is the real obstacle to peace.

Kyiv has consistently refused to relinquish Ukrainian territory in Donetsk, citing constitutional restrictions. The U.S. has proposed establishing a demilitarized "free economic zone" in the region. Zelensky has indicated he is willing to consider this idea if Russia also withdraws from the parts of Donetsk it controls.

The plan to meet with Trump was finalized after Zelensky indicated he spoke with Witkoff and Kushner for about an hour on Thursday. Dmitriev had previously met with them in Florida and conveyed the relevant proposals to Putin
