# Elon Musk stated that NVIDIA Alpamayo may pose competitive pressure on Tesla within 5 to 6 years

NVIDIA launched Alpamayo at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), claiming it to be "the world's first autonomous driving car AI with thinking and reasoning capabilities."

One X user commented: "Sorry, Tesla FSD has been doing this for many years... so what's new here?"

Another user commented: "This looks like what Tesla has been doing for years, except Tesla is training with a massive amount of real data from actual customers and on-site fleets, using a continuously learning neural network to pursue ultimate safety of 99.99999X%. People say Tesla is doomed... but I highly doubt it."

Elon Musk responded: "You are right. It will take several years for FSD to be barely usable and much safer than humans.

Traditional automakers won't integrate cameras and AI computers into cars on a large scale for several more years.

So, this may put competitive pressure on Tesla in 5 to 6 years, but perhaps longer."
