# Microsoft acquires AI data engineering platform Osmos, deeply enhancing the Fabric platform ecosystem

According to Zhitong Finance APP, on January 5th local time, Microsoft (MSFT.US) announced that it has completed the acquisition of Osmos. Osmos is an agent-based artificial intelligence data engineering platform focused on simplifying complex data workflows.

Currently, the specific financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. However, it is clear that Osmos will be fully integrated into the Microsoft Fabric platform. Microsoft Fabric, as an AI-driven cloud analytics platform, can integrate multiple functions such as data integration, data engineering, data warehousing, and data science into a unified platform.

Bogdan Crivat, Vice President of Azure Data Analytics at Microsoft, stated: "The acquisition of Osmos marks another step forward towards a new future. In this future, autonomous AI agents will work alongside humans, helping businesses reduce operational costs while enabling customers to more easily connect, prepare, analyze, and share data within their organizations."

Crivat further explained: "The Osmos team will join Microsoft's Fabric engineering organization, aiming to advance our vision of creating a simpler, more intuitive, and AI-aligned data experience."

Kirat Pandya, CEO of Osmos, stated that its products are natively built on the Microsoft Fabric platform, so the acquisition process is very smooth for existing customers.

Pandya said: "Bringing Osmos' technology and team into Microsoft presents an excellent opportunity to accelerate the projects we have been working on. This way, these projects can be delivered to a broader audience directly within the operational environment of the customers' existing data platforms."
