In corporate news, Amazon.com ( AMZN ) is challenging Saks Global Enterprises' foray into Chapter 11 and its bankruptcy financing plan, alleging breach of contract, Bloomberg reported. The e-commerce giant claimed that the luxury retailer violated an agreement governing the sale of Saks products on its website and that its equity investment in the business is now "presumptively worthless," the report said. Amazon ( AMZN ) shares rose 1%. Paramount Skydance's ( PSKY ) lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery ( WBD ) will not be fast-tracked after a Delaware judge ruled that its claims failed to meet the legal standard for an expedited hearing, media outlets reported Thursday. Delaware Chancery Court Judge Morgan Zurn said Paramount failed to show it would "suffer irreparable harm" from the alleged misleading disclosures about Netflix's ( NFLX ) $82.7 billion buyout bid, noting that as a shareholder, Paramount is not directly affected by those disclosures, the reports said. Paramount shares fell 1.7%, Warner was down 0.3%, and Netflix ( NFLX ) rose 0.6%. Ford (F) is in talks to buy batteries from Chinese auto company BYD for its hybrid vehicles, The Wall Street Journal reported. Ford may import batteries from BYD to its factories outside the US due to high tariffs, the report said. Separately, Ford CEO Jim Farley said the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement needs to be updated as it is crucial to the region's automotive industry, Bloomberg reported. Ford shares were fractionally higher.
