# Natural single-walled carbon nanotubes and graphite carbon were first discovered in the Chang'e 6 lunar samples

According to the National Space Administration, a research team from Jilin University recently discovered and confirmed naturally formed single-walled carbon nanotubes and graphite carbon through systematic analysis of lunar soil samples from the Chang'e 6 mission, marking the first such finding internationally. This reveals the fine details of the "high-energy physical-chemical processes" on the lunar surface and confirms that geological activity on the far side of the moon is more active, providing key data for studying the moon's evolutionary history. This is another significant discovery by the Jilin University research team following their finding of few-layer graphene in the Chang'e 5 lunar samples. The related research results were recently published in the academic journal "Nano Letters." (Xinhua News Agency)
