# A Brazilian court suspends the antitrust ruling against Meta's WhatsApp business

A Brazilian court has suspended a preventive measure by the antitrust agency CADE that prohibited Meta from restricting third-party artificial intelligence tools on WhatsApp Business.

WhatsApp Business is the commercial version of the app, which announced last year a ban on AI vendors and developers from "accessing or using" the app's user terms.

While the court made this ruling, CADE is investigating alleged anti-competitive behavior by Meta in the new WhatsApp Business rules following complaints from AI chatbot vendors.

A Meta spokesperson said in a statement, "We welcome the court's decision to suspend the enforcement of CADE's preventive measure. The facts do not support that intervention is warranted in Brazil or anywhere else."

Last week, Brazilian phone numbers were initially exempted from the restrictions on AI tools, but as of Friday, this exception is no longer listed in WhatsApp's terms
