# After TikTok established a joint venture in the U.S., user uninstalls surged by nearly 150%, and creators criticized the out-of-control review mechanism

After TikTok announced the transfer of its U.S. business to a joint venture managed by a U.S.-led team, the rate of user uninstalls has significantly accelerated. According to data from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower cited by CNBC, the average number of U.S. users deleting the TikTok app daily over the past five days has increased by nearly 150% compared to the previous three months.

## Users Required to Agree to New Privacy Policy

The report mentioned that TikTok announced last Thursday the establishment of a joint venture to ensure that the short video app is operated by a new U.S.-led team, appointing former TikTok operations chief Adam Presser as the CEO of the joint venture. However, some users expressed skepticism about the new joint venture on social media after being asked to agree to the updated privacy policy.

One creator, Dre Ronayne, even posted on Threads that they deleted their TikTok account, which had nearly 400,000 followers, on Sunday, stating, "If I can delete my biggest social platform because of their out-of-control terms of use and censorship mechanisms, so can you." Other creators reported issues when posting content on the app and complained about service interruptions and failed video uploads.

Data Collection Involves Race and Sexual Orientation

According to social media posts, the new policy describes the types of data TikTok may collect, including sensitive information such as race or ethnic origin, sexual life or sexual orientation, transgender or non-binary gender identity, citizenship or immigration status, and financial information. Despite the uproar on social media, the report indicated that this wording does not seem to be new content, as the archived version of the policy from August 2024 included the same terms
