# Sparebanken Norge Executive Gunnar P. Thomassen to Lead Skagerrak Sparebank

Sparebanken Vest ( (SPIZF) ) has issued an announcement.

Sparebanken Norge’s Executive Vice President for Corporate Market and Regional Director South, Gunnar P. Thomassen, is leaving the newly merged bank to become Chief Executive Officer of Skagerrak Sparebank from 1 August 2026. Thomassen, who has played a central role in the merger between Sparebanken Sør and Sparebanken Vest to form Sparebanken Norge, is described by Group CEO Jan Erik Kjerpeseth as instrumental in giving the bank a strong start, and his appointment is portrayed as both a personal promotion and a sign that Sparebanken Norge is developing highly attractive leadership talent. Skagerrak Sparebank’s board highlights Thomassen’s experience and leadership as key to further developing the regional savings bank for the benefit of customers and the wider region, while Sparebanken Norge has moved quickly to secure continuity by appointing Pål Ekberg as Regional Director South and temporarily assigning Arild Andersen additional responsibilities as Head of BM Sør.
