# The merger of SpaceX/xAI sparks heated discussions on Wall Street: revenue, challenges, and the integration prospects with Tesla

SpaceX announced the acquisition of Tesla (TSLA.US) Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI, sparking heated discussions among Wall Street analysts. Market opinions are clearly divided; on one hand, the combination of AI and aerospace is seen as an imaginative growth story; on the other hand, this deal may change SpaceX's investment attributes as a "pure aerospace target" and bring complex challenges in engineering and regulation.

According to Zhitong Finance APP, Dhierin Bechai, head of the aerospace research organization The Aerospace Forum, pointed out that the combination of SpaceX and xAI offers investors the appeal of a dual hot track of "AI + space," but it may also cause concerns for some investors who only want to bet on the aerospace industry, as SpaceX's business positioning will no longer be singular if it pushes for an IPO in the future.

Musk emphasized that the future of AI lies in space, with the key being the "unlimited acquisition" of solar energy. He plans to establish a space data center and proposed a grand vision: if one million tons of satellites are launched each year, providing 100 kilowatts of computing power per ton, it could add 100 gigawatts of AI computing power, with the potential to launch 1 terawatt of computing power annually in the long term. He expects that within the next 2 to 3 years, space may become the lowest-cost path for generating AI computing power.

Investment bank Wedbush analyzed that this merger could become Musk's largest integration of his business landscape to date, with the post-merger company IPO valuation potentially reaching $1.25 trillion, of which xAI is valued at about $250 billion. The transaction structure shows that xAI shares will be converted into SpaceX stock on a pro-rata basis, and employees will also have the option to cash out.

Meanwhile, Tesla's role has also become a focus of market attention. Tesla announced last week that it would invest about $2 billion in xAI. Wedbush believes that there is a possibility for Tesla to be integrated into the SpaceX/xAI ecosystem in some form in the future, especially against the backdrop of accelerating advancements in autonomous driving and robotics strategies, as Musk may gradually integrate the key technologies and resources of his AI empire.

The analysis firm Seeking Alpha's The Techie further pointed out that Tesla is evolving from a traditional automaker into a "physical AI provider," and its energy storage business may become a key link supporting orbital data centers, while the layout of the Optimus robot will also make Tesla an important industrial pillar of Musk's land and space infrastructure.

Analysts generally believe that the narrative of "orbital computing power" is reigniting interest in the space sector and adding a clearer AI-driven growth logic for SpaceX's future entry into the public market. As the demand for AI computing power and energy constraints continue to intensify, space data centers may become one of the focal points of the next stage of technological competition
