# Eni and Q8 Relaunch Partnership on Biorefining

(Alliance News) - Eni and Q8 Italia are joining forces once again in a strategic investment to build a new biorefinery in Priolo, Sicily, Milano Finanza reported on Wednesday.

The boards of directors of both groups have approved the plan to convert the Versalis site, following a binding offer submitted by Q8.

According to MF, the project strengthens a long-standing partnership and will use Eni's Ecofining technology to produce biofuels from waste, residues, and vegetable oils. The agreement was formalized in March 2025 at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.

The biorefinery will have a capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year and will be able to produce HVO-diesel or SAF-biojet, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 65% compared to fossil fuels. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.
