# Understanding the Market | The AI Shockwave Returns, Application Software Stocks Generally Decline, JST GROUP Drops Over 9%

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, the AI shockwave is making a comeback, and Hong Kong stock application software stocks have generally declined. As of the time of publication, NEWLINK TECH (09600) fell by 9.52%, trading at HKD 0.285; JST GROUP (06687) fell by 9.37%, trading at HKD 19.54; INSPUR DIGI ENT (00596) fell by 7.9%, trading at HKD 3.73.

In terms of news, most major technology stocks in the U.S. stock market closed lower overnight, with software stocks facing heavy selling again. The American AI startup Anthropic announced that its "Claude Code" tool has added support for COBOL language systems, which can automate complex code analysis, logic sorting, and migration planning during the modernization of legacy systems, significantly reducing the cost and time of manual intervention. COBOL (Common Business-Oriented Language) was developed under the leadership of General Motors in the late 1950s and has long been the core system language in key areas such as finance and government.

In addition, the thematic investment institution Citrini Research released a research report titled "Scenario Analysis for June 2028." The report clearly states at the beginning that this is not a prediction, but a thought experiment. Its setting is more akin to an extreme stress test: assuming that by 2028, AI accelerates penetration into white-collar jobs, some positions are replaced, income declines, consumption contracts, and the risk of credit assets relying on software systems increases, ultimately dragging the economy into a contraction zone
