Reports quote White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers as saying: "Major tech companies will gather at the White House next week to formally sign the 'Taxpayer Protection Commitment' with President Trump. This initiative was announced in the President's previously delivered historic State of the Union address. Under this bold plan, these giant companies will self-generate, introduce, or purchase electricity supplies for their newly built AI data centers, ensuring that the electricity bills for American citizens will not increase due to rising electricity demand." Trump elaborated on this initiative in his State of the Union address on Tuesday evening but did not specifically mention the participating companies. He stated: "We are informing major tech companies that they have an obligation to meet their own electricity needs. The U.S. power grid system is outdated and cannot bear such a scale of electricity demand. Therefore, I am requiring them to build their own power plants and generate electricity themselves." It is reported that representatives of the relevant companies will meet at the White House on March 4. Other expected attendees include U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and President's Assistant and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Michael Kratsios, both of whom are involved in leading this initiative. Last month, Microsoft disclosed a plan aimed at ensuring that its data centers do not drive up residential electricity prices, minimize water usage, and achieve a positive water resource benefit (i.e., the amount of water replenished exceeds the amount consumed).
