The posts, seemingly meant to promote the ongoing U.S. operation against Tehran, have drawn online criticism since the U.S. and Israel launched strikes on Iran last Saturday. Many users argued that the messaging was sensationalist and lacked the seriousness expected during a major international conflict. The White House has not been deterred, however. “W’s in the chat, boys!” White House Communications Director Steven Cheung wrote Wednesday on X in response to the pushback. Tapper also criticized the White House for a montage posted Thursday night that featured a smash cut of popular films and television shows alongside the caption “JUSTICE THE AMERICAN WAY.” “It is perhaps worth noting that many of the folks, the characters the White House is lionizing in those clips are actually bad guys in those works of fiction,” Tapper said, referencing Walter White from “Breaking Bad, Kylo Ren from “Star Wars,” and Saul Goodman from “Better Call Saul.” “Does the White House even care who the good guys and the bad guys are these days?” he added.
