# Apple increases iPhone production in India by 53%, now accounting for a quarter of global production

India produced approximately 55 million iPhones in 2025, up from 36 million a year earlier.

According to informed sources, Apple increased its iPhone production in India by about 53% in 2025, assembling approximately 55 million devices, compared to 36 million a year earlier. This expansion means that about a quarter of Apple's global iPhone production is now made in India. Apple produces around 220 million to 230 million iPhones globally each year, indicating that India is becoming a more significant part of its long-term production strategy.

Despite the significant growth, the cost of electronics manufacturing in India remains higher than in China and Vietnam, leading companies to seek additional government support as existing smartphone subsidies expire on March 31. Apple is also expanding its business in the Indian consumer market, with sales exceeding $9 billion and plans to launch Apple Pay later this year while operating six retail stores
