# Tesla is reportedly planning to purchase $2.9 billion worth of photovoltaic manufacturing equipment from China

According to sources, Tesla is seeking to procure photovoltaic manufacturing equipment worth a total of $2.9 billion (20 billion RMB) from Chinese suppliers such as Maiwei Co., Ltd. 300751.SZ, to meet CEO Elon Musk's goal of building 100GW of solar manufacturing capacity in the United States.

Sources indicate that Maiwei Co., Ltd., a leader in solar cell screen printing production lines, is one of the main potential suppliers for Tesla's procurement of photovoltaic manufacturing equipment. Other potential suppliers include JinkoSolar and Laplace, among others.

The equipment Tesla plans to procure includes solar cell screen printing production lines. Sources stated that Chinese suppliers are required to ship the equipment to the United States before this fall, with two of them adding that the equipment will be sent to Texas. The photovoltaic manufacturing capacity that Musk plans to build will primarily be for Tesla's own use, with some also intended to power SpaceX's satellites
