Senators Warren and Blumenthal have requested more information from NVIDIA, fearing that the deal could stifle competition and hand over technological advantages to China. NVIDIA responded by stating that it did not acquire Groq but rather obtained a non-exclusive license for its intellectual property and hired the Groq team. The deal is set to be completed in 2025 and has not been reported for antitrust review" datetime: "2026-03-20T14:45:45.000Z" locales: - [zh-CN](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/279962526.md) - [en](https://longbridge.com/en/news/279962526.md) - [zh-HK](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/279962526.md) --- > 支持的語言: [简体中文](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/279962526.md) | [English](https://longbridge.com/en/news/279962526.md) # Two Democratic senators question NVIDIA's $20 billion acquisition of Groq Two Democratic senators are investigating the $20 billion licensing agreement between **NVIDIA** and the artificial intelligence startup **Groq**, questioning whether the deal improperly circumvents merger reviews and illegally consolidates its dominance in the AI computing market, potentially violating antitrust laws. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal sent a letter to NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang on Thursday evening, requesting more information about the deal. The two senators stated that the structure of the transaction appears "designed to evade scrutiny from antitrust regulators." The senators wrote in the letter: "We are concerned that this acquisition could stifle competition, further entrench NVIDIA's dominance in the AI chip industry, and hand over America's technological edge to China." In addition to whether there was an intentional evasion of antitrust review, the lawmakers also demanded disclosure of the specific terms of the Groq deal. A spokesperson for NVIDIA stated in a statement that the company "has not acquired Groq," which remains an independently operating entity. The spokesperson said: "NVIDIA has purchased a **non-exclusive license** for Groq's intellectual property and has hired engineering talent from the Groq team to work together in providing world-leading accelerated computing technology to global customers." The deal between NVIDIA and Groq is set to be finalized by the end of 2025, further expanding its investments in companies related to the AI boom and introducing a new class of technology to its products. Under the agreement, NVIDIA gains non-exclusive rights to Groq's technology and has brought in some of the startup's executives, including its CEO Jonathan Ross, who has joined the chip giant. Although Groq remains an independent company and its cloud business continues to operate independently, the vast majority of its software engineers and hardware designers have transitioned to NVIDIA. Despite federal antitrust laws requiring companies to submit most merger transactions for review, Groq did not file for antitrust review regarding this licensing agreement. In recent years, Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet's Google have all entered into similar licensing and talent acquisition agreements with startups to circumvent antitrust scrutiny ### 相關股票 - [NVIDIA (NVDA.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/NVDA.US.md) - [GraniteShares 2x Long NVDA Daily ETF (NVDL.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/NVDL.US.md) - [iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/SOXX.US.md) - [VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/SMH.US.md) - [T-Rex 2X Long NVIDIA Daily Target ETF (NVDX.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/NVDX.US.md) - [Direxion Semicon Bull 3X (SOXL.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/SOXL.US.md) - [Invesco Semiconductors ETF (PSI.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/PSI.US.md) - [SPDR S&P Semicon (XSD.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/XSD.US.md) - [YieldMax NVDA Option Income Strategy ETF (NVDY.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/NVDY.US.md) - [Direxion Daily NVDA Bull 2X Shares (NVDU.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/NVDU.US.md) - [First Trust Nasdaq Food & Semicon (FTXL.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/FTXL.US.md) - [XL2CSOPNVDA (07788.HK)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/07788.HK.md) - [XI2CSOPNVDA (07388.HK)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/07388.HK.md) - [Direxion Daily NVDA Bear 1X ETF (NVDD.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/NVDD.US.md) - [T-Rex 2X Inverse NVIDIA Daily Target ETF (NVDQ.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/quote/NVDQ.US.md) ## 相關資訊與研究 - [Nvidia Asked by US Senators to Provide Details on Groq Deal](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/279931631.md) - [LPU: Nvidia popularizes a new AI acronym](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/279662346.md) - [Planet to build world’s first GPU-native AI engine for planetary intelligence with Nvidia](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/279330399.md) - [Trump Gives Nvidia Investors Score Big Win](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/279478186.md) - [Nvidia's $20B Groq Deal Draws US Antitrust Questions](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/279978880.md)
