However, Meituan will not blindly pursue becoming a "word factory," but will view AI as a strategic opportunity to improve, enhance, or even completely transform its core business of local services. He revealed that since the beginning of 2023, Meituan has made large-scale investments in capital expenditures and AI talent, stating, "Apart from companies with cloud computing businesses, Meituan's investment in AI is likely the largest among domestic companies, and we have been laying out this strategy for more than three years." Meituan continues to invest in its self-developed foundational model LongCat and is collaborating with top third-party large models in the industry, aiming to understand the real physical world as accurately as possible. Wang Xing believes that the "super entrance" of AI lies in accurately understanding user needs and efficiently executing tasks, with a complexity far exceeding that of a "chatbot." Especially in the local living sector, consumer scenarios are complex and diverse, with a vast amount of merchant information scattered and data and information not effectively digitized. At the same time, local living platforms also need to manage fulfillment and delivery in depth, which is a capability that general AI lacks. Currently, Meituan has opened the AI assistant "Xiao Tuan," embedded in the Meituan APP, to all users, covering all categories of Meituan's local services. We plan to have lunch together, but we only have two hours, so we need to find a Sichuan restaurant located in the middle, with good taste and convenient parking." To meet this common need, AI needs to grasp map information, POI information, and real-time supply information of restaurants; otherwise, it is difficult to meet the user's true needs. Based on the vast information of the physical world, "Xiao Tuan" can quickly extract valuable information from online reviews and infer answers that meet users' personalized needs. Wang Xing stated that in the future, model capabilities will continue to optimize, and Meituan will further deepen the integration of "Xiao Tuan" within the Meituan APP.
