The statement said these two aluminum plants are related to the U.S. military and aerospace industries, **namely the plants of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba)**. The Strait of Hormuz is essentially under blockade, and producers of various commodities, from energy to fertilizers, are unable to export normally. **The Middle East accounts for about 9% of global aluminum supply, most of which is currently blocked on the inner side of the strait.** In addition to shipping disruptions, key industrial facilities were damaged in the attack. It is expected that even after the hostilities end, it will take longer to restore production operations. The damaged Al Taweelah smelter is located in the Khalifa Port industrial zone in Abu Dhabi, adjacent to the Persian Gulf coast.
