# Amazon AWS plans to invest 7 trillion won in South Korea by 2031 to expand AI and cloud infrastructure

Industry data released on Tuesday shows that Amazon Web Services (AWS) Korea plans to invest a total of 7 trillion won (approximately 4.6 billion USD) in South Korea by 2031 to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure.

According to information protection documents published by AWS Korea on the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) online portal, this planned investment is in addition to the 5.6 trillion won that the company has already invested in South Korea.

The company stated that the total investment of 12.6 trillion won represents the largest investment made by a global cloud service provider in South Korea to date.

AWS Korea announced plans to comprehensively deploy generative AI in security investigations through its cybersecurity services and intends to expand this to the public and financial sectors in South Korea.

Ham Kee-ho, General Manager of AWS Korea, stated, "Information security is a top priority for AWS, and earning customer trust is the cornerstone of our business. We will continue to increase our investment to ensure that Korean enterprises have a secure and reliable foundation at every stage of AI application."
