# The Hang Seng Index's initial decline has expanded to over 220 points, with Alibaba down 3%

U.S. President Trump stated in a televised address regarding Iran that "extremely severe" actions will be taken against Iran in the coming weeks, causing Brent crude oil futures to rise over 4% in June. The Hang Seng Index opened down 39 points and during the session, it fell to a low of 25,026, a drop of 268 points at one point. It is currently reported at 25,064, down 229 points or 0.9%. The National Index fell 68 points or 0.81%, and the Hang Seng Tech Index dropped 86 points or 1.8%, reported at 4,669, with a total market turnover exceeding HKD 70.4 billion.

Alibaba (09988.HK) fell 3% to HKD 119, Tencent (00700.HK) declined 1.2%, and HSBC Holdings (00005.HK) dropped 1.5% to HKD 128.3. CNOOC (00883.HK) rose 0.8%, while PetroChina (00857.HK) increased by 1.4%. Airline stocks weakened, with China Eastern Airlines (00670.HK) down 4.6% and China Southern Airlines (01055.HK) falling 4.3%
