# Industry News: Macau's gambling revenue continues to improve, with gross revenue in the first quarter up 14% year-on-year

The Macao Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau announced on Wednesday that the gross gaming revenue for March exceeded MOP 22.6 billion (equivalent to RMB 19.25 billion), a year-on-year increase of 15%, surpassing market expectations of 11%. Compared to February of this year, it also rose by 9.5%.

In the first quarter of this year, the gross gaming revenue has exceeded MOP 65.87 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14%, with an average monthly gross revenue also exceeding MOP 20 billion, reaching MOP 22 billion in both January and March. If this trend continues, it is expected that this year's gaming revenue will not only exceed government expectations but may also surpass last year's revenue.

In 2025, Macao's gross gaming revenue is expected to increase by 9.1% year-on-year to MOP 247.4 billion, averaging MOP 20.6 billion per month. Last November, when the Macao government released the "2026 Fiscal Year Budget," it anticipated that this year's gross gaming revenue could reach MOP 236 billion.
