Alphabet-C is doubling down on its bet on OpenOpenAI, the unicorn! OpenOpenOpenAI's formidable rival, Anthropic, will utilize Alphabet-C's cloud chip.

Google is building its own "circle of friends" and deepening its cooperation with OpanAI's rival, Anthropic, in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. On Wednesday, November 8th, Eastern Time, Google announced that it is expanding its partnership with AI security and research startup Anthropic. Anthropic will use Google's next-generation Cloud TPU v5e chip for AI inference. Google stated that Anthropic is now one of the first enterprises to deploy Cloud TPU v5e on a large scale. Cloud TPU v5e is Google Cloud's most feature-rich, efficient, and scalable AI accelerator to date. This chip enables Anthropic to provide high-performance and efficient services for its Claude large language model (LLM). According to Google, the two companies have been closely collaborating since the establishment of Anthropic. Anthropic has built one of the largest fully managed Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) engine service clusters in the industry. The company currently uses Google's fully managed PostgreSQL-compatible database, AlloyDB, to process transaction data, and utilizes Google's BigQuery data warehouse to analyze large datasets and extract information for its employees. Anthropic has been using Google Cloud services since its inception. Under the latest agreement, the company will also utilize more of Google Cloud's infrastructure and security features. This is Google's latest move to increase its investment in AI unicorn Anthropic. Last month, Wall Street CN reported that Google has agreed to invest an additional $2 billion in Anthropic. Several months before the investment transaction was reached, Anthropic also signed a contract worth over $3 billion with Google Cloud. Google will provide cloud computing services to Anthropic over a period of four years. In addition to Google, Anthropic, the developer of AI chatbot Claude, has also received support from Amazon. Earlier this year, Google invested $550 million in Anthropic, and in September, Anthropic received a $4 billion investment from Amazon. With Google's recent $2 billion investment, Anthropic has raised approximately $7 billion in less than a year. Amazon has also reached an agreement with Anthropic, allowing the company to use Amazon's AWS cloud services and chips. Amazon stated that Anthropic plans to run "most of its workloads on AWS." Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, stated that Anthropic is adopting a "multi-cloud" approach. This means that the company will not enter into exclusive service agreements with any cloud service provider. Google Cloud's CEO, Thomas Kurian, expressed that he is not concerned about Anthropic's collaboration with AWS. Kurian mentioned that large enterprises always want to choose multi-cloud options, as it helps them leverage the best features of each cloud provider. Microsoft's support for Open AI and Amazon and Google's alignment with Anthropic highlight the intense competition in the US market for AI large models, with close investments and collaborations between the three major cloud computing giants and startups.
