With the launch of its new flagship smartphone, Samsung Electronics has fired the first shot in the mobile artificial intelligence (AI) battle of 2024.
On Wednesday, January 17th, local time, Samsung Electronics officially unveiled the next generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24 series, at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in San Jose, California.
Samsung Electronics announced its collaboration with Alphabet-C Cloud to empower the Galaxy S24 series with generative AI, providing Samsung Electronics' smartphone users with a generative AI experience. Samsung Electronics is the first Alphabet-C Cloud partner to deploy smartphones using Gemini Pro and Imagen 2.
The Galaxy S24 is the first smartphone to be equipped with Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on the Alphabet-C Cloud machine learning platform, Vertex AI.
The Galaxy S24 is configured with Alphabet-C's AI model, Gemini Pro, a multimodal large-scale model that can summarize and seamlessly understand, manipulate, and combine different types of information, including text, code, images, and videos. Gemini Pro on Vertex AI provides key Alphabet-C Cloud features such as security, privacy, and data compliance.
Users of the Galaxy S24 can also utilize Alphabet-C's powerful text-to-image model, Imagen 2, which is the most advanced text-to-image diffusion technology developed by Alphabet-C DeepMind to date. With Imagen 2 on Vertex AI, Samsung Electronics brings secure and intuitive photo editing capabilities to users, allowing them to access these features through the Generative Edit2 in the Galaxy S24's Gallery app.
Samsung Electronics claims to be one of the first test clients for the Gemini Ultra, the most feature-rich and powerful version of the Gemini model. In addition, users of the S24 series smartphones will also be able to use the Gemini Nano, a mobile device version of the Gemini model, which is the most efficient model for handling on-device tasks.
<h2>S24 Introduces a New Search Feature for Android Phones: Circle to Search</h2>
Alphabet-C has introduced a new mobile search experience for Galaxy S24 users called Circle to Search. With this feature, users can easily search for any content they want to know about on their Android phones without switching between apps. By simply using a gesture such as circling, highlighting, or underlining the content and clicking to confirm, users can initiate a search and obtain relevant information.
This allows users to quickly and effortlessly search for things like attractive clothing seen on social media, unfamiliar phrases in articles, or uncommon plants seen on YouTube. The summary generated by AI technology can help users better understand the concepts, opinions, or themes they come across online.
Alphabet-C states that Circle to Search can help users quickly identify objects appearing in images or videos. For example, if a video showcasing a fashion ensemble does not label the clothing brands, users can activate Circle to Search by long-pressing the home button or navigation bar on their phones, and quickly find similar items available for purchase online.
With the ability to search for both text and images simultaneously, as well as the AI enhancements from Alphabet-C, users can easily comprehend new concepts they encounter online. For instance, if a user sees a picture of a corn dog online, they can circle the image of the corn dog and input the question &#34;Why are these so popular?&#34; to quickly find the answer. They will learn that it is a Korean-style corn dog, popular for its unique combination of flavors and textures, with a meat and gooey melted cheese filling inside a crispy outer layer. Alphabet-C announced that Circle to Search will officially launch on certain high-end Android phones on January 31st. In addition to the Galaxy S24 series, Alphabet-C's own Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will also be supported.
Alphabet-C also introduced that compared to previous Samsung Electronics phones, the Galaxy S24's notebook, voice recorder, and keyboard apps will provide better summarization and organization functions. For example, users can use the voice recorder app to record lectures and quickly obtain summaries of the most important parts of the course.
