Goldman Sachs believes that NVIDIA's GR00T project represents a major breakthrough in the global humanoid robot industry by bringing AI technology.
In a report on March 21st, Goldman Sachs predicted that by 2024-2025, the global shipment of humanoid robots is expected to reach 3.5k/20k units. By 2035, the global shipment of humanoid robots is projected to reach 1.4 million units, with a compound annual growth rate of 70%, and the market size will reach $38 billion.
Goldman Sachs believes that this growth is mainly due to the improvement in technical feasibility, especially the better application economic benefits brought by robot LLMs and end-to-end AI acceleration, as well as the reduction in BOM costs.
The most futuristic scene of NVIDIA this week was when Jensen Huang and a group of robots greeted the audience together. Jensen Huang introduced NVIDIA's GR00T project, which is a universal base model designed for learning and execution in humanoid robots. GR00T can connect to large language models, receive multimodal and natural language commands, such as text, video, VR demonstrations, and generate the next action for robot execution.
Goldman Sachs expects the automotive industry to be the first to adopt humanoid robots. For example, Figure AI announced a commercial agreement with BMW to deploy universal humanoid robots on the automotive assembly line; Apptronik partnered with Mercedes-Benz to use robots for delivering and inspecting assembly kits on the automotive production line; UBTECH Robotics tested its humanoid robots on the Nio automotive assembly line earlier this year to perform tasks such as quality checks for door locks, seat belts, and badge installations
