March 27 (Reuters) - U.S. law firm Morrison &amp; Foerster on Wednesday said it has hired a team of cybersecurity lawyers from rival firm Goodwin Procter, including a former practice leader.
Boris Segalis and Kaylee Cox Bankston have joined Morrison Foerster as partners in its New York and Washington, D.C. offices, respectively, the firm said. It said three additional lawyers would be joining the pair but did not name them.
Segalis was the co-chair of the data, privacy and cybersecurity practice at Goodwin, a role he clinched in 2021 when he left Cooley for the Boston-founded firm. Segalis was the vice chair of the cyber, data and privacy practice group at Cooley.
Privacy and data security issues are “top of mind” for Morrison Foerster’s clients, “particularly amid the increased use of artificial intelligence and the rise of digital regulation globally,” Miriam Wugmeister, who chairs the firm’s global privacy and data security group, said in a statement.
Cox Banston said in a statement released by her new firm that Morrison Foerster’s “privacy and data security practice is highly synergistic with mine.”
A Goodwin spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
