
Microsoft to invest $7.16 billion in building a new data center in Spain

Microsoft plans to invest €6.69 billion (USD 7.16 billion) in developing a new data center in the northeastern region of Aragon, Spain. The Aragon regional government stated that Microsoft has applied for a construction permit to build the data center at a location outside the city of Zaragoza, confirming a report by the local newspaper "El Heraldo". The investment by Microsoft is expected to be carried out over 10 years. Microsoft did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Previously, in May, Amazon announced plans to invest €15.7 billion (approximately USD 17 billion) in Spain to expand its cloud computing infrastructure by establishing data centers in the country. Amazon AWS stated that it will expand its cloud computing infrastructure locally with the assistance of the Aragon regional government
