Chinese electric vehicle leader BYD once again demonstrated its strong market strength.
According to the latest sales data compiled by the media, BYD sold nearly 1 million pure electric and hybrid vehicles in the second quarter of this year, setting a new historical record.
Specific data shows that BYD sold 982,747 vehicles from April to June, with pure electric vehicle sales reaching 426,000 units.
This figure puts BYD on track to once again surpass Tesla and become the world's largest electric vehicle seller.
Analysts predict that Tesla's electric vehicle sales for the same period are 441,019 units, a year-on-year decrease of 5.4%, marking Tesla's second consecutive quarter of declining sales.
Over the past year, Tesla CEO Musk has tried various measures such as price cuts to stimulate market demand, but sales of Tesla vehicles continue to slow down. Due to the difficulty of older models keeping up with competitors' new product releases, Tesla's sales in key markets such as China and Europe are facing downward pressure.
Turning back to BYD, the monthly sales in June reached 340,211 units, setting a new monthly sales record.
This achievement is partly attributed to BYD's price reduction strategy implemented earlier this year, which, although may impact short-term profitability, effectively stimulates consumer purchasing desire, especially in competition with foreign gasoline vehicle brands.
In the international market, BYD's performance is also impressive, with the company's automobile export volume exceeding 100,000 units for the first time in the second quarter.
Facing increasingly fierce competition in the industry, BYD is taking multiple measures, including sponsoring the European Cup football championship to expand brand awareness in the European and American markets.
In terms of product innovation, BYD has also made significant progress. In the second quarter, BYD launched its first hybrid pickup truck in Mexico, tapping into a new niche market. Additionally, BYD also released a new plug-in hybrid platform with a range of over 2,000 kilometers.
All these positive developments are also reflected in the company's stock performance. In the most recent quarter, BYD's Hong Kong-listed shares rose by 15%, outperforming Tesla's 13% increase and most of its peers.
