
MTR Corporation raises salaries by up to 6.15%, in line with last year, and pays out a 45th-anniversary special bonus. The union is disappointed

MTR CORPORATION announced the salary adjustment range for this year, with non-managerial staff seeing a basic salary increase ranging from 2.05% to 6.15%, and "Performance Awards" being given to outstanding employees. In addition, to thank employees for their hard work over the past year, MTR will distribute "Discretionary Special Bonuses" and a 45th-anniversary "One-time Special Bonus" to eligible staff. Employees hoped for a minimum 6% salary increase this year, but over half of them only received a 4.1% raise, leaving the union disappointed. MTR's shareholder profit last year was HKD 7.784 billion, a 20.8% decrease year-on-year. Changes in MTR employee salaries will have an impact on the nominal wage index in the transportation industry and will be reflected in the fare adjustment mechanism formula
