Porsche suspends production of some gasoline models ahead of schedule

Porsche's production director told "Automobilwoche" magazine that Porsche will adhere to its position during the transition to electric vehicles, and will stop production of some internal combustion engine models ahead of schedule. Porsche Executive Board Member Albrecht Reimold stated that the production time for the gasoline-powered SUV model Macan, targeting non-European markets, will not exceed 2026, which is earlier than initially planned. Reimold said, "This platform has reached the end of its cycle." He mentioned that after the cessation of production, the company will focus on the electric version of the Macan to drive Porsche's sustainable development agenda, despite a decline in demand for electric vehicles. The executive added, "I will not let the success of the electric Macan be defined by a number." Reimold stated that the internal combustion engine versions of the Boxster and Cayman sportscars, namely the 718 series, will begin to be phased out from sometime next year, as the company is already focused on the electric versions set to be launched next year.
