Tesla’s 10/10 Robotaxi event most significant unveiling since Model 3: Musk

There are a few events in Tesla’s history that made the company what it is today. There was the unveiling of the original Model S, which showed the world that Tesla could create its own vehicle from a blank slate. There was the Model 3 unveiling event, which boldly showed the automotive world that Tesla intends to become a mass-market automaker. And as suggested by Elon Musk in a recent interaction on social media platform X, the upcoming Robotaxi “Cyberbcab” unveiling this coming October 10, 2024 would be yet another one of these milestone events. Musk shared his thoughts in a response to a longtime Tesla FSD user who noted that the 10/10 event will be the most significant moment for the electric vehicle maker since the unveiling of the Model 3 in 2016. It was also a significant event for the sustainable transportation movement as a whole. During the all-electric sedan’s unveiling, CEO Elon Musk stated that Tesla had received 115,000 orders for the Model 3. That was a mind-blowing number then, especially since a notable portion of those customers placed an order for the Model 3 before even seeing the car. Such a number proved that there was a demand for a reasonably priced premium electric vehicle. Tesla would, of course, go through an actual production hell as it attempted to meet the demand for the Model 3, but today, one could almost smile at the idea that eight years ago, 115,000 pre-orders for an electric vehicle were already quite insane. The Robotaxi event is expected to showcase the Cybercab, a vehicle that Musk believes could usher in Tesla’s ride-hailing future. The Cybercab is expected to be a vehicle that’s smaller than the Model 3 and built specifically for Full Self-Driving (FSD). The vehicle was teased in Isaac Walterson’s Elon Musk biography as a small two-seater with no steering wheel. While details of the Cybercab are scarce, Tesla has noted in its Q2 2024 Update Letter that the vehicle would be built using the company’s “Unboxed” process.
