Amazon AWS: System equipped with NVIDIA's new AI chip delayed until early 2025

According to the Zhitong Finance and Economics APP, AWS, the world's largest cloud computing provider under Amazon (AMZN.US), stated that the new system featuring NVIDIA's (NVDA.US) Blackwell chip may not be launched until early next year, later than originally expected. When NVIDIA launched its new generation of processors in March this year, it stated that partners like Amazon would be ready with Blackwell-based products by the end of 2024. However, due to NVIDIA's chip redesign, Amazon is still waiting to deploy a large number of chips in its data centers. Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, mentioned on Thursday that NVIDIA's timeline has "changed." "Right now, we are working with them, we have early samples, but as they ramp up production after redesigning the Blackwell chip, we may not get truly mass-produced samples until early next year." Investors are closely watching when NVIDIA's latest products will be delivered to customers and put into use. With strong demand for its artificial intelligence (AI) chips, this chip manufacturer has become one of the most valuable companies globally. NVIDIA stated that even after production delays, it still expects to generate billions of dollars in revenue from this processor in the fourth quarter. Garman stated that AWS will be the first to deploy computers on a large scale based on this new chip, allowing them to observe Blackwell's progress from a unique perspective. Dell Technologies (DELL.US) also mentioned that servers based on Blackwell will be fully launched in early 2025. Data center operators utilize NVIDIA chips to develop AI software and services. NVIDIA admitted in August that the production challenges for Blackwell were greater than expected. The company stated that changes are being made to increase production. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang mentioned at that time, "We will have a large supply, and we will be able to increase production."
