Frequent senior management changes at Tesla: Dojo supercomputer TTPoE transmission protocol leader resigns

Tesla recently experienced another senior management change, as engineer Eric Quinnell, responsible for the Dojo AI supercomputer project, announced his resignation. Quinnell posted his resignation message on LinkedIn, stating that he is leaving Tesla with a heavy heart and attached an interesting fill-in-the-blank "farewell email" that others can use. According to IT Home, Quinnell has been working at Tesla for nearly four years, mainly responsible for the development of the Dojo Fabric supercomputer and the Tesla Transport Protocol over Ethernet (TTPoE). It is worth noting that the TTPoE protocol was open-sourced by Tesla just a month ago. After leaving Tesla, Quinnell will be joining Tranium Corporation. Prior to joining Tesla, he worked at Samsung Austin Research Center for over six years, spent over six years at AMD, and worked for over a year at semiconductor design company Arm. In his resignation email, Quinnell also disclosed some information that Tesla has never officially revealed: the computing power of the Dojo cluster is currently at 15 EFLOPS. Additionally, the Dojo team consists of approximately 150 people. At the time of this announcement, Tesla is undergoing a series of senior management changes. This month, Tesla promoted former Autopilot Director Ashok Elluswamy to Vice President of Artificial Intelligence Software, and just a day later, appointed Milan Kovic as Vice President of the Optimus humanoid robot project. Kovic previously served as the head of Autopilot software engineering. Additionally, Omead Afshar was also promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales and Manufacturing. Throughout this year, Tesla has also experienced several executive departures. Most recently, Vice President of Finance and Business Operations Sreela Venkataratnam left in August, ending her 11-year career at Tesla. In May, Renjue Zhu, Manufacturing Director of Giga Texas factory, also left the company after five years of service. Of particular note, in April of this year, Vice President of Powertrain and Energy Engineering Drew Baglino chose to resign after 18 years at the company, followed by Vice President of Public Policy Rohan Patel leaving Tesla after eight years of service
