This morning, the 2023 Shanghai Science and Technology Awards were announced, with 214 awards presented. Chief Scientist of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) and Chief Designer of the C919 large passenger aircraft series, Academician Wu Guanghui, and Oncopharmacologist and Researcher at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Ding Jian, were awarded the Shanghai Science and Technology Achievement Award. Xiu Faxian and 10 others received the Shanghai Youth Outstanding Contribution to Science and Technology Award, 46 achievements received the Shanghai Natural Science Award, 29 achievements received the Shanghai Technical Invention Award, 114 achievements received the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, and 9 achievements received the Shanghai Science and Technology Popularization Award. Foreign experts Elsa Rachel Mannes, René Bernats, Jürgen Jost, and Jean-Pierre Macholar were awarded the Shanghai International Science and Technology Cooperation Award
