In his view, part of the reason for last week's stock market rise was the "plummeting" of the equity volatility premium, which only intensified on the eve of the election. He noted that such situations are common when looking back at past economic cycles. "The S&P 500 Index options (volatility) curve was pricing volatility for the day after election day at over 35%, while the current pricing is in single digits.
