Tesla Model 3 wait time in China further shortened to 1-3 weeks

Tesla Model 3 wait time in China has been shortened from 2-4 weeks previously to 1-3 weeks, while the Model Y remains unchanged at 1-3 weeks. The wait time for Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 electric sedan in China has gotten even shorter, following a similar change late last month. For Chinese customers currently ordering any of the Model 3's variants, the estimated delivery wait time is 1-3 weeks, shortened from the previous 2-4 weeks, information on Tesla's China website shows. The last time the electric sedan's wait time changed in China was on October 29, when it went from 4-6 weeks to 2-4 weeks, according to CnEVPost's daily monitoring. The Model Y's current delivery wait time in China remains unchanged at 1-3 weeks. The crossover's last wait time change in China was on July 4, when it went from 1-6 weeks to 1-3 weeks. The Model 3 and Model Y are the models that Tesla locally produces at its Shanghai factory, and both are offered in three variants in China. The Model 3 comes in an entry-level rear-wheel-drive version, a long-range all-wheel-drive version, and an all-wheel-drive performance option, and is currently priced at starting prices of RMB 231,900 ($32,040), RMB 271,900, and RMB 335,900, respectively. The Model Y is available in the same versions with starting prices of RMB 249,900, RMB 290,900, and RMB 354,900, respectively. Prices for the Model 3 and Model Y in China have remained unchanged since the end of April. No other Tesla models are being built in China, and the expected delivery date for the Model S sedan and Model X SUV (sport utility vehicle) in China has not changed and remains the first quarter of 2025. The US electric vehicle (EV) maker extended its 5-year, 0-interest loan in China on October 27 until November 30, and its China website clearly shows the amount of money that consumers will need to pay each month to buy a vehicle through the program. Tesla initially launched the 5-year 0-interest loan incentive in China on April 3, the first time it offered the program in the country. In the past few months, it would essentially announce a one-month extension of the incentive at the end of each month. Tesla China sold 68,280 vehicles in October, including 27,795 exported, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). It sold 40,485 vehicles in China locally in October, the lowest since April, CnEVPost's calculations show. That's up 41.43 percent from 28,626 vehicles in the same period last year, but down 43.93 percent from 72,200 in September. In the January-October period, Tesla sold 500,685 vehicles in China, surpassing the 500,000-unit mark and representing an 8.29 percent year-on-year increase.
