Altman stated, "I believe that if everything we do were under Musk's control, he would be very happy; he left when he thought we would definitely fail." He also said: "I can look at this calmly, just like I remember how I felt when he said OpenAI's success rate was 0%, you are all idiots, I want to withdraw my investment, I want to do my own thing." However, despite Musk's preparation to play an increasingly important role in a potential second term for Trump, Altman still believes that Musk will not use his power to take down his opponents. He previously stated: "I think some people are really assholes on Twitter, but they still won't abuse the institutions of the country."
