&#34;Operation Red Sea,&#34; which was released during the 2018 Spring Festival, is part of Bona Film Group's &#34;Operation&#34; series, with the latter achieving a box office of 3.652 billion yuan. The &#34;Boonie Bears&#34; series, a regular in Spring Festival animated films, saw its previous installment released in 2024 surpass 2 billion yuan at the box office for the first time.
Zhongyuan Securities' research report points out that attention should be paid to the performance of the 2025 Spring Festival. Considering that the Spring Festival is one of the most important periods of the year, it can release a large amount of box office energy in a short time, thus attracting many quality domestic films to be scheduled during this period. The overall quality of films during this period is also at a relatively high level throughout the year. Additionally, viewing subsidies in multiple regions can cover the Spring Festival, further stimulating audience attendance in theaters and unleashing the potential for movie consumption. If the box office during the Spring Festival exceeds expectations, it is likely to drive the performance recovery and valuation rebound of the film and television sector.
Guotai Junan released a research report stating that the lineup of films scheduled for the 2025 Spring Festival is strong, mainly consisting of sequels with high reputation and box office, which are expected to set a new historical box office record. Past Spring Festivals have proven capable of accommodating two films with box office earnings exceeding 4 billion yuan, but due to the past competitive landscape not being as concentrated as in 2025, it may ultimately result in 3-4 films exceeding 3 billion yuan at the box office, and all six scheduled films have the potential to challenge box office earnings of over 2 billion yuan.
