Power amplifier supplier Qorvo rose over 14%, leading a group of chip stocks, Intel rose over 9%, and TSMC fell over 1.5%

On Friday (January 17), Apple supplier, radio frequency integrated circuit product supplier, power amplifier supplier, and filter supplier Qorvo rose 14.43%. The Wall Street Journal reported that activist investor Starboard Value has taken a significant stake of 7.7% in the chip company and plans to push for changes to boost the company's stock price.

Intel rose 9.25%, with SemiAccurate reporting that there was an email about a company attempting to acquire Intel in its entirety.

MaxLinear rose 6.16%, Marvell Technology rose 6.11%, GlobalFoundries rose 5.3%, Broadcom rose 3.5%, NVIDIA rose 3.1%, Micron Technology rose 3.07%, STMicroelectronics ADR rose 2.75%, Texas Instruments rose 2.7%, and AMD rose 2.55%.

In addition, Advanced Micro Devices fell 0.96%, Nuvoton Technology fell 1.51%, TSMC ADR fell 1.53%, and Wolfspeed fell 7.10%
