According to previously reported itinerary plans, Jensen Huang primarily attended the annual meeting of NVIDIA's China branch during this visit, having traveled to several major cities in China, including Shenzhen, Taipei, and Beijing.
At the event, NVIDIA staff introduced that the annual meeting of NVIDIA's Beijing branch would be held today (January 20), and after it concludes, Jensen Huang will fly to Shanghai.
In his opening speech at the Spring Appreciation Event, Jensen Huang first extended New Year greetings to everyone present. Reflecting on the 60-year development history of the computer industry, he mentioned that this moment not only marks a new beginning for the year but also the start of a new era, the era of AI-led new computing. What NVIDIA has done is &#34;reinvent the computer,&#34; and the new type of computer based on NVIDIA GPUs is key to the development of AI.
When discussing the purpose of his trip to China, Jensen Huang stated that he came to participate in NVIDIA's annual meeting in China to &#34;celebrate the Spring Festival&#34; with employees. He introduced that NVIDIA has been developing in China for over 25 years, with nearly 4,000 employees. In recent years, the employee growth has been nearly 56%, with branches and offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. The employee turnover rate is very low, &#34;once you join NVIDIA, you won't leave easily,&#34; with an annual turnover rate of only 0.9%.
At the same time, NVIDIA has established a large developer ecosystem in China. Currently, NVIDIA has 1.5 million CUDA software ecosystem developers and nearly 3,000 startup company partners in China. At the appreciation event, Jensen Huang was the only award presenter, awarding developers and NVIDIA campus ambassadors among other projects.
During the dinner segment of the appreciation event, while interacting with reporters from several media outlets, including Jiemian News, Jensen Huang emphasized NVIDIA's investment and achievements in China. Notably, in the two days prior to this trip, during a stop in Taiwan, Jensen Huang met with industry figures such as TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei and Wistron Chairman Simon Lin, and introduced more market information about NVIDIA.
Regarding the mass production and market launch process of the new generation Blackwell chips that NVIDIA is collaborating with Taiwan to produce, Jensen Huang praised TSMC's production efficiency while revealing that &#34;expansion is underway at the fastest speed.&#34; During the Wistron annual meeting event, he disclosed that NVIDIA's AI server orders for Wistron are &#34;very large&#34; and &#34;not limited to this.&#34;
Jensen Huang came to China to attend the company's annual employee meeting, which is a tradition within the company. Last year, on the eve of the Spring Festival, he also visited NVIDIA's offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen to participate in the annual meeting of the China division.
Regarding the industry's heated discussion about &#34;Jensen Huang choosing to come to China will miss the inauguration of the U.S. President,&#34; staff members indicated that Huang's trip to China was a pre-planned itinerary. Previously, NVIDIA officially expressed objections to the new regulations on the diffusion control of AIGPU chips introduced by outgoing President Biden. The company stated that the document was hastily drafted during the last window period of the government transition, lacked sufficient communication with the industry, was &#34;secretly drafted,&#34; and did not undergo proper legislative review. The AI GPU-related chips and technologies that the new regulations aim to control are already &#34;widely adopted technologies in mainstream gaming PCs and consumer hardware,&#34; and imposing restrictions would not enhance U.S. security but rather weaken the country's competitiveness in technological innovation.
Earlier, Jensen Huang responded to the media regarding his absence from the U.S. presidential inauguration, stating that he would congratulate Trump on his inauguration, but the company had not yet discussed Biden's administration's artificial intelligence chip export control measures with the new government officials.
