On his first official day in office, President Trump signed a series of executive orders aimed at overhauling border and energy policies and terminating diversity programs within the federal government. Although Trump and his team did not disclose specific details, some policies may face legal challenges. Additionally, Trump plans to reinstate the "Remain in Mexico" policy, requiring asylum-seeking immigrants to stay in northern Mexican border cities during their court proceedings in the U.S., which requires Mexico's consent. He also plans to resume border wall construction, designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, and suspend refugee resettlement for four months. The legal pathways provided by the Biden administration for illegal immigrants were immediately terminated after Trump's inauguration, including the closure of the CBP One application and website that offered 40,000 appointments per month. This application allowed immigrants to enter the U.S. legally through orderly applications. In terms of energy policy, Trump plans to sign orders and memoranda to cut regulations related to energy production and reduce inflation. These measures include canceling the Biden administration's climate regulations on electric vehicle production and enhancing energy production in Alaska. Trump also plans to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. These initiatives signify that the Trump administration will completely overturn the core policies of the Biden administration.
