Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Johny Srouji, stated in an interview with Reuters: "C1 is the starting point of our technology, and we will continuously optimize this technology in every generation of products to make it a platform that truly provides a technological advantage for our products." Note: In 2008, Srouji led the development of the Apple A4, which was Apple's first self-designed SoC. Apple confirmed that it plans to use its self-developed baseband chips in more products in the coming years. Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also revealed that the iPhone 17 Air will be equipped with the C1 chip. Apple's self-developed baseband chips will reduce its reliance on Qualcomm, which is currently the baseband chip supplier for other iPhone models. The latter is expected to see its market share in the iPhone baseband chip market drop to around 20% next year
