Reuters Beijing, March 3 - China's Geely Auto (0175.HK) launched a new high-end intelligent driving system named &#34;Qianli Haohan&#34; on Monday, which will gradually cover various brands and models at different price points under its parent company, Geely Holding Group, to achieve the popularization of intelligent driving technology.
BYD (002594.SZ) first showcased its ambition to promote &#34;intelligent driving equality&#34; in February, decentralizing high-end intelligent driving capabilities to models priced at 70,000 to 80,000 RMB, announcing the full-scale start of the intelligent driving &#34;price war.&#34; This has prompted mainstream automakers, including Geely, to follow suit.
Chen Qi, Chief Intelligent Driving Scientist of Geely Holding Group, introduced at a press conference that Qianli Haohan has planned five different levels of intelligent driving solutions using the letter H + odd numbers, and the entire series will support highway NOA and automatic parking.
&#34;The company has the largest software and hardware bandwidth in the industry, which can meet the differentiated needs of different users, allowing more users to experience intelligent driving that can be used nationwide and is easy to drive anywhere,&#34; Chen said.
According to him, regardless of the solution, Geely's intelligent driving will prioritize safety, &#34;even for the entry-level solution, our computing power exceeds 100 TOPS, which far exceeds the industry standard for entry-level solutions.&#34;
Geely Auto Group CEO Gan Jiayue stated at the same event that starting in the second half of this year, the new and updated products of Geely Galaxy will be equipped with different levels of intelligent driving solutions from Qianli Haohan. The company previously set an annual sales target of 1 million units for the entire Galaxy series.
Geely also launched a new intelligent driving version of its pure electric sedan - Geely Galaxy E8, with a starting price of 153,800 RMB, and a limited-time starting price of 149,800 RMB. This car is expected to compete with BYD's Han EV in the 200,000 RMB price range.
Launching the industry's first L3 intelligent driving solution
Geely Auto announced at Monday's press conference that the highest-end Qianli Haohan H9 will become the industry's first solution designed for L3 intelligent driving. This solution will use NVIDIA (NVDA.O) dual Thor chips and feature high redundancy.
In addition, Qianli Haohan will achieve full-scene commuting in March and will push features such as roundabout U-turns and ETC communication to users. Furthermore, the company's &#34;parking space to parking space&#34; navigation assistance will also be officially pushed on a large scale in March.
Geely Auto has made continuous progress in the field of intelligent driving recently. The company announced on Sunday that it will participate in the establishment of a joint venture with a 30% stake, which will provide advanced intelligent driving solutions for the group's future products.
Geely Auto achieved total sales of 205,000 units in February, a year-on-year increase of 84%. Among them, the sales of the Geely Galaxy series reached 76,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 288%; the sales of the ZEEKR brand reached 14,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 87%.
Geely Auto's Hong Kong stock rose 2.1% on Monday, with a cumulative increase of about 20% so far this year. (End)
