Oklo conducts pre-application readiness assessment for Aurora Powerhouse reactor with U.S. nuclear regulatory agency

American nuclear company Oklo stated that it is conducting a pre-review preparation assessment with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its joint operating license application for the Aurora Powerhouse reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory. Boosted by this news, the stock rose about 10% in early trading on Monday. The company indicated that this pre-review assessment allows NRC staff to review and familiarize themselves with Oklo's licensing materials in advance, ensuring that both parties are well-prepared for an efficient formal application review. Oklo mentioned that the NRC will initiate this targeted assessment this month, focusing on reviewing the core components of the first phase of the joint license application, including project site proposals and environmental impact assessments. The company plans to submit a formal joint license application later this year and intends to follow up with a series of supplementary applications to complete its order backlog of over 14GW. Company co-founder and CEO Jacob DeWitte stated, "We are making significant progress in obtaining commercial licenses for next-generation nuclear technology."
