So they generally do consider buying larger companies that are included in the relevant benchmark index. </p> <p> As you can see, institutional investors have a fair amount of stake in LendingClub. We note that hedge funds don't have a meaningful investment in LendingClub.      The company's largest shareholder is The Vanguard Group, Inc., with ownership of 11%.       BlackRock, Inc. is the second largest shareholder owning 7.9% of common stock, and Dimensional Fund Advisors LP holds about 5.4% of the company stock.      Additionally, the company's CEO Scott Sanborn directly holds 1.2% of the total shares outstanding.   </p> <p> Looking at the shareholder registry, we can see that 51% of the ownership is controlled by the top 17 shareholders, meaning that no single shareholder has a majority interest in the ownership.  </p> <p> While studying institutional ownership for a company can add value to your research, it is also a good practice to research analyst recommendations to get a deeper understand of a stock's expected performance.   Quite a few analysts cover the stock, so you could look into forecast growth quite easily.  </p><h2>Insider Ownership Of LendingClub</h2><p> While the precise definition of an insider can be subjective, almost everyone considers board members to be insiders.  The company management answer to the board and the latter should represent the interests of shareholders. Notably, sometimes top-level managers are on the board themselves. </p><p> Most consider insider ownership a positive because it can indicate the board is well aligned with other shareholders. However, on some occasions too much power is concentrated within this group. </p> <p> We can see that insiders own shares in LendingClub Corporation.
