Former Google CEO: Superintelligent AI will consume 99% of electrical resources

Recently, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt stated at a hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Committee that AI will consume 99% of the world's electricity in the future, a claim that has sparked widespread attention and discussion among attendees. Schmidt pointed out that the current demand for electricity in the technology industry is rapidly increasing, expected to soar from the current 3% to 99%. He added that an additional 29 gigawatts of electricity supply will be needed in the coming years, and this figure will rise to 67 gigawatts by 2030. He emphasized that to promote the rapid development of artificial intelligence, it is essential to ensure the supply of various energy sources as soon as possible, including renewable and non-renewable energy
