TrendForce: It is expected that the output value of humanoid robot bodies in the Chinese market will exceed 4.5 billion RMB in 2025

According to data from TrendForce, 11 mainstream humanoid robot manufacturers in the Chinese market have started mass production plans in 2024, among which 6 companies, such as Yushu Technology, UBTECH ROBOTICS (09880), Zhiyuan Robotics, Galaxy General, Zhongqing Robotics, and Leju Robotics, have plans to produce over a thousand units by 2025. It is expected that the output value of humanoid robots in the Chinese market will exceed 4.5 billion yuan in 2025, coupled with Elon Musk's goal of mass-producing thousands of Tesla Optimus units by 2025, it is anticipated that the mass production plans of leading manufacturers will drive the ecological layout and integrity of the supply chain for humanoid robot components in the Chinese market. On April 19, 2025, the world's first humanoid robot marathon was held in Beijing Yizhuang, with 20 teams participating in the competition; after the start of the race, the performance of various bipedal robots varied, and ultimately 6 teams completed the race. This marathon showcased the challenges faced by current humanoid robot technology, with deficiencies in autonomous navigation, motor control, and endurance; however, the issues exposed during the competition can provide direction for technological improvements, promoting the iteration of software and hardware systems for perception, decision-making, and execution, as well as data collection and overall solution adjustments, facilitating experience exchange among technical teams from different backgrounds. In addition to technical challenges, the commercialization of humanoid robots is also lacking relevant standards and regulations in its early stages. In early April, a series of national standards for humanoid robot technical requirements were officially approved for project establishment. UBTECH ROBOTICS, in collaboration with the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center Co., Ltd., Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and other organizations, initiated this series of national standards, which are the first batch of national standards in the field of humanoid robots in China, covering multiple technical requirements such as environmental perception, decision planning, motion control, and operational procedures. TrendForce stated that standardized construction has become an important driving force for industrial development, and the establishment of national standards for humanoid robots is of great significance. National standards can standardize industry technical indicators, lower technical barriers, and assist in the large-scale production and cost reduction of the industry. Currently, humanoid robot products are mainly applied in B-end industrial scenarios, university research, and a small number of B-end commercial scenarios, while C-end household scenarios require diverse functionalities from humanoid robots, with high demands on data processing and autonomous interaction capabilities.
